About the BCBA

The Brooklyn Center Business Association is a voluntary organization of businesses, community representatives, and residents who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, commercial and economic development of the community. The BCBA joins with a number of organizations to support the community and each other while providing a platform for businesses to work together toward common goals. Being a member of the Association means investing in the future of your business and the Brooklyn Center community.

Our Mission

The Brooklyn Center Business Association promotes the area’s commercial and industrial activities by: 

• Uniting businesses with local government, civic organizations and interested individuals.
• Advocating business-related issues most beneficial to our members and the community.
• Supporting retention, expansion, and attraction of companies and workforce.

Brooklyn Center’s strategic location, diverse economy and business-friendly incentives make it easy to see why the city continues to draw a variety of industry. The advantages and highlights of the area include:

• A ready workforce with people of varying job skills.

• Strong education programs including a variety of schools with the option of community based charter programs.

Committees

• The Board is the governing body of the Association. Its members represent the leadership of the community. The Board consists of up to 15 elected members who serve a one to three-year term. The Board establishes the annual operating budget and the specific programs for the Association, and oversees the progress of each during the course of the year. 
• The Executive Committee consists of the Officers and exercises the powers of the Board between scheduled Board meetings.
• The President is the volunteer leader of the organization who presides over the Board and Executive Committee meetings, appoints committee chairpersons and is the spokesperson for the organization. The bylaws call for a Vice President to assist in overseeing various areas of involvement within the Association.
• Committees and task forces provide an effective means of utilizing the energies and abilities of volunteer workers. Volunteers are drawn from among the Association members to assist in projects.

Join the Team!

Through our committee and task force structure, the BCBA addresses the community’s economic development and quality of life. These are special teams that really make a difference in our community. Please select the committees you would like to learn more about and we will contact you with the information.

* Budget Committee is responsible for the financial viability of the organization. The committee develops an annual budget and monitors the Associations financial progress throughout the year.

*Marketing Committee is responsible for providing marketing products, encouraging communications within our members and business community.

*Program Committee is responsible for coordinating programs and selecting speakers and topics for the membership meetings.

* Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting new members and retaining current members.
